Daniel Johnston founded his consulting practice in 1985, providing economic/financial advice to oil companies exploring overseas. This work primarily involved evaluation work on acquisitions and sales of licenses/blocks and oil and gas properties. In the 1980s Daniel began working for governments, providing advice on policy and strategy for license allocation and fiscal design work.
